I grew up in Ruidoso, and that taught me to love nature. Every couple of years, we would hike up to Monjeau Lookout, which offers incredible views. It is an old stone fire lookout that I totally grew up believing was a castle. Look for wildflowers there in early summer.

White Sands is also worth a day trip, especially since it became a National Park in 2019. It's truly a place of wonder.
